Commonhouse Ales, the sister production brewery for Smokehouse Brewing, was started by Lenny Kolada (a real craft beer pioneer here in Columbus) as an effort to change the way brewers and private businesses give back to their communities. Investing in people, community and business with equal passion, Commonhouse is on track to become the first B Corp certified brewery in Ohio, and gives back through the sale of their flagship ale, Six.One for Good, and Commonhouse Shares, a continuous fundraising effort.
Fulcrum Creatives partnered with Commonhouse to guide them through the process of becoming a B Corp, as well to help with branding, naming and design. The keyway and key are central to both brands (Smokehouse included), representing a welcoming, community-based space.
Through several photo sessions with Commonhouse, in the brewery and studio, I documented the brand, its beer, its hijinks, and it's secrets with personality befitting the people behind it.
For the Smokehouse Brew Co. side of the business, I also worked on a new pylon sign for the brewpub, to match the new branding system.
